Remembrance Sunday

Here we are again, its that time of year, today; in three quarters of an hour in fact, I will take the walk up to Coventry's Memorial Park and remember my Father. I will stand by the War memorial like many others and reflect upon the past and present.I will remember Dads journey into war, his crossing of the Russian steps with the Germans at his tail, his capture at Saruma and imprisonment in Koln for the remainder.
As a child I was bought up surrounded to a degree by War Veterans, Polish, Estonian, British, I was beguiled by their stories and heroism, and am very proud that my own son has served. Its always left an impression on me, in part that's why I collect Militaria, to be a caretaker of history's artifacts, because that's all we can be, caretakers of memories and histories we can never be allowed to forget. I unlike some, will be wearing my Poppy with pride once again.
