A Yes and No day...
Yes I was determined to finish off working on my restoration of my WW2 brodie helmet. I had already decided it would be '7th Army Desert Rat'. Already prepared in desert tan paint I set about hand painting the desert rat insignia (jeraboa) took me a few hours and I stood back to admire my work accordingly. These restorations are as much about restoring a historical artifact, just as I did the American M1 helmet; as it is a hobby, and will be displayable to museum standard.
So I am looking at this insignia and I realise , really, it looks quite crap!. So had to strip it all off and re spray the helmet again. While waiting I decide to drill a third hole into my soon to be recreation of a Brit WW2 para helmet, and I drilled and drilled to no avail, the helmet was just not having any!, so I will take it to work tomorrow and butter up the maintenance guy to do it for me. Sometimes what appears to be a simple project is never easy.
