When I was at school way back in the day we had a Computer. It was the size of a large Barbecue and looked like an over enthusiastic typewriter. I belonged to the Maths department in 'T' Block, and was rarely ever used, it fact it may have simply been a terminal to a local university. We were never of course were allowed to use it, with the exception perhaps of one of our Maths geniuses such as Sean Beesley, he ate equations for breakfast and was the sort of person whom could not wear a watch as they would simply stop working on him. So essentially it gathered dust in the corner, went out of date very rapidly; and we were scared of it!.
At this time Sinclair's and commodore 64s were just starting to come into play along with BBC computers. To most of us they were simply games systems, or expensive typewriters, free of the politics of Internet porn and the solicitation of riots and revolutions, Tom Baker would simply just play about with them on the TV, and we were happy enough with that, how times have changed, where governments gang up to stop us talking to each other, is that progress?.
