Wet Berets and Poppies
Why are you walking around the house in a wet Maroon Beret Alan? you ask. Well as you may know already, I do like my Militaria, and as it sits there a lot of the time doing very little, I finally got around to contacting the Royal British Legion this week and offered my services to sell Poppies in the centre of Coventry. Over the last few years one of their volunteers sold his poppies in a fabulous WW1 infantry mans uniform. So this inspired me to dust of my WW2 British Paratroop ensemble, with I must say had some fabulous fun last Thursday morning; I totally enjoyed the experience. Today my Para Beret arrived, just in time for this Sundays gathering at the Memorial Park in Coventry, where once again I have been asked to sell poppies in my uniform, but frankly I am in two minds about that, as I have become to old and grumpy when it comes to screaming toddlers at somber events.
Oh in answer to the question, you have to shape a Beret in a certain fashion, to fit the shape of your particular head, and this involves some submersion in hot and cold water, and gradual drying.
