Now its colder, and I meander around the house in my dressing gown, and hack away once again at my butter on my breakfast counter, I am drawn to my winter hobbies.'Purdy' is still out of action until 'Dennis' (my roving mechanic) replaces her Fuel Pump, and I am getting impatient now. I finally completed my M1 'Vietnam Helmet' project. A moderately interesting challenge, latterly sourcing the period sixties helmet straps, and gingerly removing the eighties equivalent with a grinder!. But its completed . with an obligatory sixties pack of 'Marlboro' in the headband. Not to shabby, certainly museum standard.
Will have to think about my next one, perhaps I will acquire a German pot eventually, and a decent period Russian one also. I am a lover of History, and I quite enjoy delving into the past, acquiring pieces of seventy year old equipment, and returning them to there former glory, sort of saving artifacts in a way I guess. To me it seems important. It will all go to the 'Herbert Art Gallery' when I am long gone, they can prize my 'Sten' gun out of my cold dead hands!. My service pipe is leaking apparently in my front garden, the water people at Severn Trent have recommended a chap to do the work for me a mere £3,600.00, short change really, the sort of thing I find in my jeans when I have accidentally put it through the wash, and now I am sure I can smell 'Gas' in the porch, now I have closed the windows for the summer, oh Joy.
