Some years ago now, even though it seems only like yesterday, my ex wife walked out on me and my family. A few days later Emma my daughter said 'lets take what remains of her stuff down to the 'Tip' in Whitley. We drove down and parked the car up by one of these large skips and threw what remained of my Ex's items into it. Emma was seventeen at the time, and as I turned to my left I saw her spit into the skip.
The look on her face was one I had never seen before. It was one of betrayal, hurt, injustice, and perhaps above all else anger, the sort of anger that forms a persons personality, the 'die' had been cast. I will never forget that moment as long as I live, the way people can selfishly hurt the ones there supposed to love and mutually nurture
Yesterday I stood in the garden looking at my reflection in a window. I saw a man I had never seen before, a man I did not recognise, the expression, and above all else his eyes spoke volumes, this was a troubled man, an angry man, a man of focus and purpose. A very different man to the one I knew.
