John Barry
Today I learned of the passing of another great, the singular John Barry. When I was a teenager and all the kids were out buying Saturday night fever, one of the very first Albums I ever bought with my valuable fiver from Owen Owens was 'The Persuaders' by JB.
My father was into Mantovani and James Last so in a way he introduced me to big bands and Orchestra. So I fell in love with his film scores, after a while , and in his later years you could always recognise his style, from Bond, the Quiller Memorandum, King Kong, our of Africa, the list was endless.
In the early years he and Micheal Caine shared a flat together, and he was so talented, the worst band he ever worked with, 'Ah Ha', his favorite artist, Louis Armstrong.
