Remembrance Sunday

Awoke relatively early today, did Katie some 'breakfast in bed' which is not easy I can tell you, trying to fry an egg on top of a quilt!, but I digress. The weather looking good, but even so would never stop me attending the Remembrance Sunday service, at the Cenotaph in the Memorial Park.
I started attending long before Harry joined the Grenadier Guards, I think the reasoning behind it was it brought me a little closer to my memories of Dad, and still does, then my attendance was augmented with strong thoughts of Harry when he was in Afghanistan; and of course all whom served when out there, and still do today.
I hear a lot of cynical and ill informed criticism of our remembrance 'Poppy' appeal, the significance of the the Poppy in non Political, it gives everybody, no matter what age or culture, the opportunity to empathise with the profound impact that war has on us in many ways. For now, 'War' will not go away, and many of us will continue to remember their sacrifices.
