Last night I spent the evening watching Columbo on Netflix, as there was nothing but crap on TV and BT Vision as usual. In the opening part of the episode, 'Murder by the Book' he elects to make a traumatised wife an omelette, despite her protestations that shes not actually in a eating mood, he uses his usual shabby chic charms and breaches the sanctity of the poor woman's Kitchen.
He tells us he's a terrible cook, however, his signature dish is the only dish his wife agrees with, so he sets about the kitchen accordingly. Butter for the Skillet?, that's an omelette pan to us I suspect, he begins to prepare onions and acquires what appears to be a block of 'Red Leicester'?, which he begins to grate , butter in pan, you can hear it sizzle, he refers to milk and omelettes in genral terms, I didn't quite get if he was for it or not, but definitely three eggs. So he's all prepared to go for it, and impress us with his pan technique and timing, when of course the killer, the excellent and much missed 'Jack Cassidy', walks in!!...
Will we ever know the truth about Columbo's omelette?. This is clearly a incomplete cooking lesson from the talented Mr Falk, any thoughts on this, anyone?, now that's a real mystery waiting to be solved.
